The Tony Cokes Remixes
Remix No. 1
Andros Zins-Browne in collaboration with choreographer Will Rawls

For his exhibition during the 10th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art, Tony Cokes has invited choreographers Andros Zins-Browne and Jenn Rosenblitt to create two “choreographic remixes” of his video works.

The first, taking place on June 16 and 17, 2018, will be made in collaboration with choreographer Will Rawls in response to Cokes’ video work Mikrohaus, or the black atlantic? (2006–08) and Black Celebration (1988). In the works, acts of looting during the Watts riots, debates over appropriation in Techno music, and hysteria around the pre-Christmas sales on Black Friday are juxtaposed.

For the second remix on September 1 and September 2, 2018, Zins-Browne collaborates with choreographer Jenn Rosenblitt in response to Cokes’ video DT.sketch.01.7 (Evil.66.1) (2016) to imagine a body whose voice and physicality diverge, as they channel some of the invisible acts of violence from earlier statements by then-businessman Donald Trump.
